Welcome to The Upgrade.

What's The Upgrade? The new biweekly newsletter of the U's Enterprise Systems Upgrade Program (ESUP). One reason we're introducing The Upgrade is that recent survey results told us people want more communication about ESUP.

In fall 2014, a lot of things will change when we launch our new, upgraded enterprise systems. Looking at your paychecks. Registering for your classes. Entering your grades. Submitting your expenses for reimbursement. Brushing your teeth. (OK, maybe not that one. But your dentist wants us to tell you to floss more.)

ESUP is improving the University’s technology and streamlining procedures related to essential human resource, student service, and financial systems, while building a new portal and enhancing the University's reporting capabilities. This upgrade will enable the University to utilize new software functionality, increase operational efficiency, and improve the user experience. Examples of the services provided by these systems include:
  • 36,000 paychecks per pay period
  • 114,000 admission applications per year
  • 2M class registration transactions per year
  • $490M in federal financial aid per year
  • each and every transaction in the University’s $3.8B annual budget.
The Upgrade will keep you informed on what's changing as the program progresses through its launch in fall 2014. We'll let you know what's happening, how decisions are being made, and how it will affect you. Below is a link to a short video introducing ESUP and its goals.

The Portal Team is releasing an early version of the portal for your review! It will be the place to access tools and resources you need at the University, from searching for classes to viewing your pay statement. Read more...


HRMS (Human Resources Management System) Town Halls

As part of the Enterprise Systems Upgrade Program (ESUP), the HRMS upgrade will simplify and streamline the University's human resources management system and processes, add essential new self-service functionality, and improve data quality and the user experience. What's Changing on the Student and Finance Work Streams?

The Student work stream has been posting approved changes to their business processes on our "What's Changing?" page. The financial system (EFS) is being upgraded so it will remain compatible with the HR and Student systems. President Kaler Recognizes ESUP Progress

One of the challenges facing the Enterprise Portal project has been the quandary of ownership. The portal is a new product and a new opportunity, and, while initial development is in scope for ESUP, this sort of tool needs a strong sponsor with a holistic perspective. Read more...
