In order to manage a system-wide upgrade at the University of Minnesota, The Upgrade has organized system functions and their users into groupings, or "work streams."
The Finance upgrade project includes an update of our PeopleSoft financial system to the latest version (9.2) in order to maintain integration with the HR and student systems and to address certain specific needs and strategic priorities.
We are upgrading our PeopleSoft Human Resources Management System (HRMS) to the latest version (9.2), re-implementing core HR data functions especially regarding appointment data and job designations, and re-examining related business processes to realize the greatest value from delivered functionality, to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness, and to enhance the user experience.
The Upgrade Integration effort focuses on internal, external and tertiary integration points. Internal and external integration points are generally handled within The Upgrade, although some users may be asked to participate in testing activities around these integrations.
The Upgrade is developing and implementing a new myU portal. The purpose of the new myU is to help people be successful in getting their business done at the U and to serve as the primary internal communications vehicle for the University community.
The Student project includes upgrading PeopleSoft Campus Solutions from version 8.9 to 9.0 and re-examining all related business processes for the first time since 1998. The upgrade approach leverages enhancements offered by PeopleSoft and minimizes modifications.
RDM (Reporting and Data Management) is a cross-functional work stream that touches each of the systems affected by The Upgrade with a role to create and update central reports, identify data changes and reports to the UMN community. This team works closely with the Enterprise Data Management and Reporting (EDMR) governance structure.
